Nature Bijoux’s creativity finds its full expression on the island of Cebu, in the Philippines!
All our creations are handcrafted by our uniquely skilled craftspeople.

Nature Bijoux, specialist in costume jewellery
for 40 years!

A specialist in costume jewelry, Nature Bijoux has, over 40 years, acquired unique craftsmanship in the creation and production of jewels made from natural materials. While the creative spirit is instilled by Amaury Christin, Art director at Nature Bijoux, each piece of jewelry is born thanks to the unique expertise and craftsmanship of a team of more than 150 craftspeople, working in 15 different trades.

We control the entire production chain from designing to distribution since our jewelry is handmade directly in our workshops. We master all the different trades: marquetry, shaping, foundry, welding, galvanization, enameling, assembly and each step is performed with the utmost care to sublimate the materials we use.

Our craftspeople are the core of Nature Bijoux. In a family atmosphere, they perpetuate ancestral craft techniques and contribute every day to Nature Bijoux’s reputation by offering unique and high-quality jewelry.

Marquetry and shaping

Mother-of-pearl

Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent inner coating of certain mollusc shells. It has long been a highly prized product for decoration, marquetry, jewellery or button manufacturing. In our workshops, we work with a broad variety of mother-of-pearl: black mother-of-pearl from Tahiti, Palawan mother-of-pearl, white mother-of-pearl, brown mother-of-pearl, Paua, Haliotides and much more.

Horn

We work with two different types of horn: black water buffalo horn and cow horn. Both come from the food recycling chain in the Philippines.

Termite mounds

There are two types of termite mounds: subterranean and arboreal. We only use the arboreal kind, as termites build it using wood, which makes it much stronger and therefore easier to shape. We collect termite mounds from tree trunks (mainly coconut trees) once their occupants have abandoned them.

Metalwork techniques

All the metalwork, from pewter and brass casting to gold or silver plating is carried out in our workshop. This allows us to control all the processes and guarantee the high quality of our products.

Meticulous assembly

In order to reproduce each model identically, our craftspeople use the original piece. Once all the components have been collected—and sometimes there can be over fifty for one single piece—the assembly process may begin. This meticulous process requires unique know-how.

Each Nature Bijoux creation calls for ten to forty manufacturing steps, depending on the complexity of the model, a host of details to convey emotions and tell you a story.

The beauty of Nature Bijoux jewellery
relies on its craftspeople

Nature Bijoux’s greatest asset lies in the women and the men who perform these meticulous gestures and to whom Jean-Daniel Christin has passed on his love of materials!
For 40 years, Nature Bijoux has been committed to offering its talented craftspeople exemplary working conditions respectful of human and social rights. Today, more than 150 craftspeople run the Nature Bijoux workshop, perpetuating the artisanal skill of designing and crafting jewellery from natural materials.

Towards a responsible approach

All the materials used to manufacture our jewelry complies with the Washington Convention. Horns and bones are sourced from the food chain, most shells come from cultivated sources and a large proportion of components are made from recycled materials.

As part of our environmental approach, we are committed to minimizing our impact on nature as much as possible by following strict recycling and waste management rules, and by removing certain materials such as coral or snakeskin and certain varieties of wood from our creations. Our aim is and always will be to stay as true as possible to our values and to respect biodiversity.
